I am often asked, “how have you been successful in business”? What is the MAGIC? I have heard it said, “if you just don’t quit, you will one wake up and realize you are living the life you have been dreaming about.” Each day do something towards your dream. Every negative thought/action is like a withdrawal from your dream account. Every positive action/thought is a deposit into your account. Do you have the right account to be earning “interest” on your dream? Think about success as daily compounding. Save a penny, next day save two pennies, third day, double it and then keep doubling. Those pennies are your thoughts and actions. It is the little things that make all the difference in the world. The little things you do AND the little things you don’t do. There is no secret or magic pill. Just hard, strategic work and not giving up when it hurts so bad you want to throw in the towel. That moment separates the “wanna bees” from the CHAMPIONS. If you are still reading this…you are on your way to a CHAMPIONSHIP!
Have you visited your imagination lately? Remember when we were kids and we would allow our imaginations to run wild? What happened? Grew up, experienced, failure, disappointment, pain, loss, etc. How dare we allow those life circumstances to mess with the vision of our hearts! Our parents watched us for hours smiling as we ran outside, smiling and playing and dreaming. We are still God’s children. That hasn’t changed. I challenge you today to visit your imagination – Glimpse of what can be – and build upon that everyday. Lives are built on HOPE. When your hope is gone, so are you.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Guess what? If you don’t plan your time, someone else will plan it for you. How many times have you failed to plan and then all of sudden the phone rings or someone stops by and asks you to do something and b/c you weren’t clear in your plan, you became part of theirs. WOW! Be intentional about planning your personal, business, family and spiritual time.
The Coastal Women’s Shelter received a $20,000 grant from the Mary Kay Foundation Tuesday.
“The partnership the shelter and Mary Kay Foundation has will provide counseling services for those needing the service,” said Martha Hardison, executive director of the Coastal Women’s Shelter.
The shelter serves Craven, Pamlico and Jones counties. It offers court advocacy, a safe house staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and a crisis hotline. Other services include clothes for adults and children and small appliances and housewares for those setting up a home.
The crisis hotline took 6,059 calls last year. More than 150 domestic-violence victims and children were served by the safe house last year.
The grant was awarded to only three other domestic violence shelters in North Carolina. The Coastal Women’s Shelter wrote the grant application.
A check presentation was set for Tuesday evening at the New Bern Chamber of Commerce. Representatives slated to attend from Mary Kay were Mary Ann LeRay, district sales manager and Nancy LaPlante of Mary Kay.
Reception honoring the Coastal Women’s Shelter took place on Tuesday, November 15th at the New Bern Chamber of Commerce at 6 PM. Many board members, consultants and community were in attendance. The 2011 grant to the CWS is for $20,000. It is one of 150 grants made in the United States. There were over 700 grant requests made to the MK Foundation this year. The Mary Kay Foundation began in 1997 with a mission to raise funds for cancers affecting women. In 2000, the mission of eradicating domestic violence was added. When our Founder Mary Kay Ash died, she left $15 Million ($1M per year) to the Mary Kay Foundation.
There are many ways that the Mary Kay sales force continues to raise funds for the Foundation. Our company slogan is “Party with a Purpose” so with that mission in mind,
we venture out to the community to find needs and fill them. We thank all of our Mary Kay customers because nothing happens until someone sells/buys something.
Law of Sacrifice – Quality leaders are prepared in the Wilderness. During this time, our motives get purified, our backbone solifies and our calling gets clarified. The devil tempted Jesus for 40 days in the desert. Jesus was tempted to be self-sufficient but He trusted God. Jesus was tempted to be spectacular but he didn’t “perform” to become a celebrity. Jesus was tempted to be powerful but He refused to take a shortcut to gain power or worship. We can learn so much from the Ultimate Leader in how to develop our leadership and others.
