As I sit here in our condo looking at the snow falling outside, I am so grateful that I have the privilege of entrepreneurship. In June 1998, I decided to start my own business with Mary Kay Cosmetics. For those of you know my story, I was very reluctant and had intentions of never leaving my mortgage job. In February 2000, I left that job to be home with my son, Joshua, who had been born. Now what? I was in moments of great uncertainty. The guiding priority was to be a mother to Joshua and whatever it took to do that, I was willing. People ask me all the time how I have been consistently successful over the past 13 years. 2 things: Burning Desire and Be Teachable, Coachable and Trainable
There are no shortcuts. The greatest mistake people make is thinking that the event is more important than the process. Champions are not made in the spotlight at the big fight. They are made in the gyms where it is sweaty, stinky and painful. A great movie to watch is Million Dollar Baby.
2 of the richest men in the world: Warren Buffet and Bill Gates – Warren still lives in a ranch style home built in the 1950’s. Bill is doing great philanthropy with helping to eradicate Polio in the world.
What is your VISION? not your goal…what is your VISION? Your goal is the vehicle that fulfills the VISION. The vision is like you taking a run on a beautiful beach. The goal is like being on track in a race as the gun fires. Vision and a Goal are not the same thing. A Vision will keep your fire lit in your belly. The goal is the next step.
Signing off for now as I get ready to ski my hubby and son…
